Ongoing Project #1

We've started to paint the master bedroom, which will be Araucuna Blue (like the color of the eggs laid by Araucana chickens). The ceiling took two coats of drywall primer and two coats of ceiling paint--it had only been painted once, and probably never primed, since the drywall was put in about 1943. Larry put drywall primer and regular, tinted primer on the walls as well. Now we're painting the top coat, but we had to stop temporarily to take the windows out and strip them (stripping them in situ isn't working, and we can't sand because of the lead paint). Some pics:

The door on the left is a closet, the door on the right leads to my office and faces the rear of the house:

We've tried stripping the window trim with Citristrip, but that stuff is weeeeak. So we're going to disassemble the windows and take the frames outside to stip with the good old scary stuff:

The little nook that looks out over the front of the house--the paint in that part is finished, but not the window:

The door to the hallway (the wall to the left of the one with the closet):

The decor in here is going to be rather, er, eccentric. I have a gigantic tree branch that I'm going to spray paint gold. I'll hang lanterns from it, and put up some faux birds and bees (all stuff I had out in CA). The curtains are pale purple, made from a silk sari (also something I had out in CA). It's going to be lover-ly! (I hope!)

Watch this space for more developments soon!

Well, Larry does most of the work. :) I helped out with the sheds, but I'm leaving sanding, stripping, and painting to him. I have to work through the next two weekends, so that cuts into time I could spend helping him.

Can you Please Please Pleassssee give a short tutorial / explanation on how he removes and re-installs the window? I'm afraid to remove mine. If I screw them up they will be hard to replace!

I'll take pics as we do it, but it's our first time trying to remove them, so I can't guarantee we'll do it "right"!

OH, and everything looks really really good. I love those soft pale colors. So soothing.

That is the goal. I wanted it to look as if I were underwater...
